CARNIVAL DAY

GREAT!!! The Carnival was held and ran smoothly on Friday, 12 June 2009. Promoting the slogan “Keluarga Bahagia, Keluarga Ceria”, the event involved 800 people, villagers from Kampung Rhu Tapai,Kampung Merang,Kampung Pantai Merang, Kampung Setia Jaya, Kampung Lembah Bidong, Kampung Gong Tengah, Kampung Baru, Kampung Penarik and residents from all over the Setiu state.



After two weeks of intensive preparation and hard work, GEMS participants from Sky Sdn. Bhd. and Crystal Eye Sdn. Bhd. were ready to commencements on the event, which is one of the major projects in GEMS program, the third after Talent Day and Community Service. The project was a challenge especially for participants from Sky and Crystal Eye.


The main objective of the event is to tighten the relationship between GEMS participants with the villagers through various activities that had been planned and accomplished on that day, other than giving an exposure to GEMS participants to the entrepreneurship world.




Guests of honour of the event were Mr. Sazimi bin Zainol, the representative from Khazanah Nasional Berhad, Mr. Razali bin Ismail, GEMS Project Manager from Irshad HR Consulting Sdn. Bhd, and Mr. Azman bin Ibrahim, GEMS Merang Suria Resort Site Manager. The opening ceremony of the event was launched by Mr. Sazimi bin Zainol and the closing ceremony was done by Mr. Azman bin Ibrahim.

From our reporter’s observation, the villagers and participants really enjoyed the Carnival because of the various activities and games held, and there were also many booths opened that day selling many products such as food, beverage, clothes and jewelleries. 38 presents for lucky draw winners were also given out, sponsored by Merang Suria Resort, Setiu. Booths from ‘Biro Bantuan Guaman Terengganu’ and Setiu District Police Station were also opened that day to give out useful information to the visitors and not to forget to GEMS participants.

As a conclusion, in the end the Carnival Day which carried the slogan “Keluarga Bahagia, Keluarga Ceria” has given us new opportunities to build new networks and relationship between us and the villagers.
